Need a good scare? This is my favorite Stephen King book, and it delivers in the scary department. "Sometimes dead is better" is the theme of this book, and you will read why. Did someone say grave consequences(pun intended)? I would like to give a parental warning, this book is for mature readers.
HPB Staff ReviewIn perhaps one of his most disturbing books, Horror Master Stephen King puts you in the shoes of Louis Creed, a family man and doctor who moves to rural Maine to help the notably superstitious populace. There is a legend in the town that states that any dead thing that is buried in the titular "Pet Sematary" returns to the land of the living. After losing his young son in a terrible accident, the grieving Louis tries to test this legend, with terrible consequences. This book is a rough read for the best of reasons, and pushes the idea of terror to new heights. On paper it's a simple story of grief that transcends its premise with the wonderful writing of Stephen King. The everyman character of Louis Creed really puts the reader in the passenger seat of this terror-coaster, and makes it all the more terrifying when you reach the book's truly chilling conclusion.
HPB Staff ReviewSuspense thriller that is frightening and nothing you have read before. The storyline is creepy scary but will have you on the edge of your seat. Well written and creative storyline that had me devouring the pages trying to find out what would happen next. If you like to be scared this is a definite must read.
I bought this for my 15 year old son who is starting to read more thrilling books by Stephen King. He enjoyed this one a lot.
Not my favorite King novel but still very good, it had its slow moments and it's heart pounding moments. #BannedBook #RequiredReading
