For fans of Sarah J. Maas's bestselling series, "Kingdom of Ash" was a phenomenal way to conclude the world of the Throne of Glass. Aelin had been captured by Queen Maeve at the end of one of the previous titles "Empire of Storms" and thus creating a chain of events that lead us towards the final battle that takes place, one most heart-wrenching was discovering her new fae husband, Rowan, and her were mates all along. Determined to be reunited with her, he sets out with some of their comrades and set out to rescue her. Little did they all know, though, was that Aelin didn't leave them behind empty handed. SHe brought them an army from just about every corner of Erilea and even Wendlyn, calling old favors and debts in order to try to fight for a better world. The story has multiple groups throughout, some meeting up later on, others not until the final battle. It was so amazing as a fan when certain characters were reunited, and almost as great with some meeting each other for the first time. Lots and lots of battles take place, some groups faring better than others. the relationships between certain characters also continue to develop, and not everyone has a happy ending. While some would complain that there wasn't much of a plot, just battle after battle, I thought the plot was all the set up for that final battle with the evil Valg king Erawan and Aelin. the book was all about what the final outcome would be. Without giving too much away, as a fan since 2012 when the series first arrived, I can say I was very satisfied with everything that happened in the book. So happy to see so much tribute from the first book, so much representation of the characters and how their stories come to their conclusion. I am sad its over, it was such an incredible journey through a magical world with amazing, memorable characters. The only other series that has gotten so much emotional investment was a certain series by J.K Rowling, and while nothing can compare to HP, Throne Of Glass is definitely up there. As a fan, I just thank Sarah for telling such an amazing story, and to inform anyone reading this that its just about the perfect way to draw this book series to a close. You won't be disappointed.
The wildly popular, "New York Times"-bestselling Throne of Glass series--the story of infamous assassin Aelin Galathynius--comes to an epic conclusion.
