This first installment of the Mars Trilogy presents us with the landing of the first one-hundred colonists on Mars, and of the years following as they work to give humanity a permanent foothold on the red planet. Balancing corporate interest with political maneuvering, these brave men and women make incredible breakthroughs in their respective scientific fields and make great leaps in the effort to turn the red planet, green and blue.
HPB Staff ReviewThe first installment in the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson: Red Mars follows the journey of the 1st one-hundred settlers of Mars from their journey through space up through the beginning of the settlement and terraforming era. Rife with interpersonal struggles and political debate, Red Mars is one of those remarkable and poignant stories that never loses its social relevance. It also is one of the shining examples of well-written sci-fi which seems well researched and expands upon the principles of existing and well-understood sciences and technologies. I am more than excited to read on to the next installments of Green Mars and Blue Mars.
