It has some parts that may shock you or take you by surprise but it makes the book more intriguing.
Naomi H. - 6 years 4 months agoIt’s an amazing book it keeps me drawn and it tells a story of 4 people beautifully like you are there in person with the characters. It’s my favorite book I’ve read it twice ready to read it for a third time. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends or anyone. #Summer Reading

Awesome Book
Rhea K. - 6 years 4 months agoThis book was amazing! I was able to see all of the views of people during the wars. Alfred was a whole-hearted Nazi, while everybody else hated Hitler. There were many intense parts in the story that made you never want to stop reading. I would recommend this book to any historical fiction fans!

Macy B. - 6 years 4 months agoI love this book and this author! The story is told from multiple perspectives (about four) but is easy to follow. The Wilhelm Gustloff sinking is the greatest maritime disaster in history killing around 9,000 passengers (7,500 more than the titanic!). It was sunk during WW2 and contained people from all walks of life trying to escape the war. We get to follow the story of a group of people who worked together to get on the Wilhelm Gustloff to escape. One of the narrators is Joana who is Lina’s cousin from ”Between Shades of Gray” by Ruta Sepetys. Both are amazing reads that’ll have you looking for some tissues. One of the things I loved most about this book was that it focused on the character’s journey and their stories but it had a hint of romance between two of the narrators. #SummerReading

Bingeworthy and emotional
Ashley R. - 6 years 5 months agoI had to read this book for a competition in high school, along with 9 others. Of the ten books, this was definitely my favorite and one of the most memorable. It was unexpectedly emotional, yet still realistic. The end was heartbreaking but also a twist that left me conflicted as to whether or not I liked the ending. I highly recommend reading this book, I finished it within a few days because I couldn't put it down.
