Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison--even though she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive if she does--in this second installment from Marissa Meyer.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana.
The adventure continues in this fresh fairytale retelling that combines elements of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

Scarlet's grandmother is missing, and Scarlet's defense of the cyborg Cinder, who's in prison waiting to be handed over to the Lunar queen, draws the attention of a mysterious and dangerous street fighter named Wolf, who knows exactly where Scarlet's grandmother has been taken and who took her. However, his offer to help her leads her into a world of genetically-enhanced soldiers who act more like a pack of animals than they do men and entangles her in a war that just may claim her life. Her only hope is Cinder, who must escape from prison, figure out who she is and learn to use her Lunar gift before it's too late. The second book in the Lunar Chronicles, Scarlet does not disappoint, giving the fairy tale you know, new life in a futuristic setting. I couldn't put it down.
HPB Staff ReviewWhile escaping from prison, Cinder joins forces with the bemusing Thorne, who just so happens has to have a purloined space ship still in his possession. Scarlet's grandmother is missing, and along the way to finding her, meets up with the mysterious Wolf, a man who fights for cash. Back at home, newly crowned Emperor Kai is still dealing with the fallout of the previous book, as well as all the new chaos that erupts as Cinder and Scarlet try to meet their respective goals! Iko, on the other hand, just wishes Cinder had chosen a better new body for her! The Lunar Chronicles are quickly becoming one of my favorite YA series. Meyer takes great care in world-building for her universe, which aids in making the characters feel more real, and that this isn't a fabricated plot to get them to make out. The politics, in particular, are very well done, which is important since they're such a big amount of the plot. Each and every character is different, and have a whole lot of heart put into them.

Scarlet was action packed. I loved the book. The cover is beautiful. The story is amazing. I loved wolf and scarlet together. They such a cute couple.
Book 2 of the series takes on the retelling of little red riding good and i for one am soooo glad they did. Out of the whole series Wolf is my favorite character. He struggles to over come what he was born to be and Scarlet helps him so much. This book starts to uncover a lot of questions from Cinder, but has its own story as well. #SummerReading
