This is a memoir written by Betty Grissom, the widow of NASA astronaut Gus Grissom. Gus lost his life alongside his crewmates Ed White and Roger Chaffee in the January 27, 1967, Apollo 1 launchpad fire. This book chronicles Betty's life with Gust, the early days of the American space program, the tragedy of the fire, and her subsequent battles in its aftermath. This book was never widely reprinted after it's 1974 release and has been decades out of print! Very cool piece of American History!
