In Superfudge, Judy Blume tells a story that many young readers would identify with. Eleven-year-old Peter feels like his life is completely out of his hands when in the course of one year he gets a new baby sister, has to move to another city, and somehow keep in check his adventurous younger brother, Fudge, who attends his new school with him. Blume takes a candid look at the realities of childhood while keeping them in a story that is entertaining. Subjects such as divorce, religion, dating, and where babies come from are briefly touched on without anything becoming a soap box, and again all of these things show elements of the lives of Blume's readers. More than anything, this book is about coping with change, which many adults sometimes take for granted after having been through so many in their lives. It's an entertaining read for people of all ages.
