    As a high school English teacher, I think this is an incredible book to discuss contemporary issues while creating understanding and teaching empathy. However, I caution schools to require their school boards read it prior to assigning. In my district, we had several parents request their students not read it, on the basis that it "encouraged" students exploring sexuality. #Bannedbook
