  • So inspirational you'll either love it or hate it.

    Jacob J. - 3 years ago

A boy sets out to find his "personal legend" after searching for the meaning of his recurring dream. He leaves all that he knows behind, including his flock of sheep that he loves and the girl he wishes to marry to find his destiny in a foreign land. On his journey, he meets up with a king, he's duped by thieves, faces tribesmen at war, braves the African desert, and all the while searching for what he's always meant to do. The Alchemist falls in a category called Inspirational Fiction. If you're needing something motivational but hate the thought of reading a cheesy Self Help book, I would suggest The Alchemist. It tries very hard (some might say too hard) to inspire and motivate you to realize your full potential while still providing an entertaining story to get lost in. I was sucked in, felt very inspired, and enjoyed the adventure. I've been told this book is "a must-read", (which is why I picked it up in the first place) now I don't know about all of that but if you're looking for an uplifting novel that may or may not inspire you to chase your dreams I'd say pick this one up.

  • let's make that glass half full

    James F. - 3 years 8 months ago

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho has been a popular book for decades, often used as reading materials in schools. That being said, I found this book at a time in my life when I was looking, willing, and ready to change my perception of life. A book is what you make it; entering this one with an open mind and an open heart may just help you gain a new perspective.

  • Young man goes on adventure to find a great treasure.

The reason I choose to read the "The Alchemist" is because this book has a quick paced story and reminded me that I do not have to go far to find a great treasure. All I have to do is open up this book to find the greatest treasure of them all.
