The Continuation of an Incredible Universe!
Courtney H. - 6 years agoAlthough this book takes place after the events of the Lux series, I happen to be someone who read it before going back to read Damon and Katy's story. Still, I would definitely agree that this series can stand on its own without too much confusion. As a sucker for romantic stories, I absolutely loved watching Luc and Evie's relationship develop. His obvious devotion to her is so genuine and beautiful, while her commitment to her own morals and values is quite admirable. If you like sarcastic, charming boys with huge egos and punny t-shirts, then Luc is your guy! If you enjoy stubborn, brave female leads who are into photography, then Evie is your girl!

Holy Alien Babies!
Anissa H. - 6 years 1 month agoYou know how you have movies that are so great you're like, "No sequel please this is perfect how it is!" but then you get the sequel and you have to begrudgingly admit "Okay that wasn't bad...what else you got?" That's what Jennifer L. Armentrout did with this baby. She gave us Deamon and Katy and then feed us Luc and Evie! The Darkest Star was the book hangover cure I didn't know I needed until I read it. The favorite thing about the spin off is that it is it's OWN STORY. Nothing recycled or regurgitated. Yes we do see some fan faves from the Lux series BUT the story and characters stand on their own. There is no shadows to get from us. The romance doesn't overshadow the action. It's perfect balancing act that only Jennifer can do! 1000/5 stars!!!! #summerreading
