Soon to be an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
The first novel in Robert Jordan's #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time(R). The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow. When The Two Rivers is attacked by Trollocs--a savage tribe of half-men, half-beasts--five villagers flee that night into a world they barely imagined, with new dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light. Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time(R) has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read. This book is easy to read because you dont want to put it down.
This book was amazing! It has all of the basic tropes but they are done to perfection! It has magic, adventure, mystery, all of the things that you could possibly want. This will leave you wanting more and more of each character. I am excited to read the rest of the series! Absolute gem!!
HPB Staff ReviewThe Eye of the World kicks off the Wheel of Time series and does so with a bang. Robert Jordan excelled at describing action scenes whether they were sword fights or battles using the "one power." He also maintains interesting plot divergences. You don't feel like skipping around to catch up with a character elsewhere. This is epic, tomish fantasy at its best. If you like the book then strap in; the series contains 14 volumes. Don't be thrown off, though! Each volume of the series remains engaging. A true page-turner.
HPB Staff ReviewA classic; it goes Rings, Erikson, Jordan and then possibly Abercrombie for me. All else is filler.
