Overview

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman's carefully calculated theories on love into chaos.

As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships--but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting biologist, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor--and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford's reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive's career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding...six-pack abs.

Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.

Borrowed it from the library and loved it so much I had to buy my own copy! I nearly suffocated trying not to laugh out loud in public while reading this book. Clever, fun, well-paced and well-balanced. I miss the lab and this book brought me home. Definitely a win for me!

Great book, I don’t usually like 3rd person narratives but this book was so good I didn’t even notice it. Absolutely loved Adam and Olive:) <3

  • The Best of Fluffy Academia Romance

Where to begin with this book? I bought The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood sort of on a whim after hearing just about every romance reader I follow fawn over it and seeing a tiktok video about how the main character is demisexual. That right there had me sold because I rarely see acespec characters in mainstream romance books. Shortly after that I learned the story originally started as a Reylo fanfic and that had me even more interested. Now, don’t misunderstand; I was never a Reylo shipper. I was firmly in the camp that Rey and Ben Solo were separated siblings like Luke and Leia and that’s why they had such a strong connection. I was wrong, but a girl can dream, right? Buy. This. Book. If for nothing else than the witty banter, the longing looks, and fake-dating-turned-real. TLH hit the romance trope sweet spot for me in it's combinations of fake dating, grumpy-meets-sunshine, forced proximity, and slow burn. I'm generally not a fan of an age gap, but this was done in a way that doesn't seem creepy or predatory. Especially with the power dynamic of Adam being a professor and Olive being a grad student (but not his grad student). It was everything I want in a romance and then some. I'm glad I bought it on a whim and didn't wait months to read it. It may have just dethroned Red, White, and Royal Blue as my number one favorite romance.

Amazing book I read it in less than 5 days...…….. Sorry for the gibberish the message said it must be at-least 50 characters.
