The Beginning of the End
Evan D. - 7 years 11 months agoTime Runs Out pt. 1 is, in actuality, "Avengers / New Avengers by Jonathan Hickman chapter 12." Six volumes of Avengers and four volumes of "New Avengers" precede it, as well as the "Infinity" event series. So read those first. If not, you'll be completely lost. "Time Runs Out" sees the long simmering conflict between the heroic Avengers and anti-heroic New Avengers finally reach a boil. For most of the story, the New Avengers worked in secret to solve Incursions - events where an alternate Earth crashes into Marvel's own, the only solution being the destruction of one or both Earths. Captain America, leader of The Avengers, finally learns of the New Avenger's antics. Unfortunately it's too late: the final Incursion is here. There will be a reckoning. Hickman announced at the start of his story that he was playing the long game. "Time Runs Out pt.1" is the first time we get a taste of the payoff.
