This is one of the most well written and intricately weaved pieces of literary fiction I have read in my lifetime. Gyasi is an exceptional storyteller, she weaves the narrative thread of this story with the precision of a neurosurgeon. She is able to take themes like religion and science, addiction and forgiveness, things that feel so inherently at odds, and bring them to together in a way that feels less scientific and more magical.
