Overview

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.

For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.

Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger?

Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live.

Tuesdays with Morrie is a magical chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world.

  • Tuesdays with Morrie

If there is any book that illustrates the power of choice, this is it. Through the friendship between a young man and his professor who is facing a terminal illness, we saw how one’s values and beliefs shape your attitude toward’s life greatest difficulties and what endures and matters when all is said and done. #SpringPicks

  • a very nuanced and insightful read regarding the trial that is existence

    Maeve C. - 6 years ago

Tuesdays with Morrie is a very nuanced and insightful read that treats you as the student, as the person the author passes on lessons regarding existence. Morrie’s wisdom and comments about life’s pleasures, maladies, hardships, and rewards apply to all walks of life, regardless of the individual sufferings we all experience. I’ll certainly seek to apply these lessons in my daily life and do my best to help mold a more rewarding lifestyle for myself and others. Of course, it will take a lot of time and patience, but there are many lessons I want to try and incorporate into my usual routines to give them more meaning and thought to how I have used my existence. While this book was unquestionably enjoyable to read as the characters were relatable, and the story told was inspiring, I do believe it to be a positive impact on all who read it. I hope to take its messages to heart before its too late. Although, in Morrie’s words, “Don’t assume it’s too late…” #BannedBook

  • A profound contemplation of what it means to really live.

    Michelle d. - 6 years 3 months ago

“The truth is, once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” I am not a fan of "self-help" books, however, Mitch Albom manages to sneak in the positive attributes of a self-help book into this beautiful memoir. My copy of this book is riddled with sticky notes pointing toward favorite quotes. I read this book for the first time in high school and then again in college because of its profound dialogue surrounding life, hardship, joy, and persistence. For a book brought into existence purely because of death, it sure does help the reader gain a further understanding of what it means to live in a seemingly uncaring society and natural world. Everyone should read this, regardless of where you are in your walk of life, you are living, and so, this book is for you. #SummerReading

  • A Must Read

    Hollie K. - 6 years 4 months ago

Had to read this book for school so I wasn’t that excited about it. But since we had to analyze it in depth and discuss its many messages I began to love it. Mirrors view on life, grief, and how he accepts death is something I want to practice in my life. I recommend this book to all my friends and think everyone should read this book at least once in their lives. #summerreading
