This was an interesting read, even a compelling read at moments; but my overall impression was that I could take it or leave. Some of that was the author's fault, using colloquialisms within conversations that the reader was unlikely to understand, in order to convey an authentic regional manner of speech. A lot of the talk was clipped, as well. But doing so left the reader completely out of the conversation. The other issue was descriptions of the action seemed vague. My overall opinion is that this book probably made a really good movie, probably more appealing on screen than on the page.
