Leading Ladies do not end up on tabloid covers. After a messy public breakup, soap opera darling Jasmine Lin Rodriguez finds her face splashed across the tabloids. When she returns to her hometown of New York City to film the starring role in a bilingual romantic comedy for the number one streaming service in the country, Jasmine figures her new "Leading Lady Plan" should be easy enough to follow--until a casting shake-up pairs her with telenovela hunk Ashton Su rez.
Leading Ladies don't need a man to be happy.
After his last telenovela character was killed off, Ashton is worried his career is dead as well. Joining this new cast as a last-minute addition will give him the chance to show off his acting chops to American audiences and ping the radar of Hollywood casting agents. To make it work, he'll need to generate smoking-hot on-screen chemistry with Jasmine. Easier said than done, especially when a disastrous first impression smothers the embers of whatever sexual heat they might have had.
Leading Ladies do not rebound with their new costars.
With their careers on the line, Jasmine and Ashton agree to rehearse in private. But rehearsal leads to kissing, and kissing leads to a behind-the-scenes romance worthy of a soap opera. While their on-screen performance improves, the media spotlight on Jasmine soon threatens to destroy her new image and expose Ashton's most closely guarded secret.

Really enjoyed it! Engaging plot, likable characters. Really excited to read the next book in the series when it’s released later this year!
The romance! The steam! The representation! The Spanish! This book has it ALL. It tells the story of Jasmine, a kick-ass actress cast as the lead in a new telenovela remake. Her costar Ashton is notoriously attractive but also notoriously closed off. And thus begins the effort to peel back his layers and get to know this telenovela hottie. Not only do you get to know Jasmine and Ashton as themselves, but you also learn a lot about their on-screen characters Carmen and Victor too. While the love story was fairly predictable, there were a few unique touches here and there that kept this from being just an average romance novel. The storyline was enjoyable—not to mention the incredible Latinx diversity and gender representation!! All of the characters hailed from different Latin American countries and there were several non-binary and trans supporting characters. It was so nice to see these identities celebrated, especially in the media industry. I was also surprised at the amount of Spanish in the book. Don’t worry if you don’t speak it though, because the author does a good job integrating the English meaning of various sentences into character dialogue. But as someone who has studied Spanish for a looooong time and has read novels and poetry in Spanish, the integration of the language was a nice surprise. This book is a perfect romance read. Five stars from me for this wonderful story that will have you at “hola.” #SpringPicks
